KUOW reports that Seattle has a few extra million to spend this year cuz bidness is downright good in the city. As any good SimCity strategist knows, disaster can strike at any moment, so Mayor Greg has earmarked the cash for more firefighters and cops on the streets. Makes sense to us. Though my memories of the fire guys my aunt used to date doesn't exactly fill my mind with images of heroism and selfless devotion to duty, it's scary to know that there are only 3 firefighters on duty at a time at many firehouses across the city.
BTW, has anybody ever been heading into Uptown Espresso on 4th Ave when all hell breaks loose and the fire engines comes screaming out of the nearby station? It's a good thrill -- kind of like adding another shot to your latte.
